President Reagan

The Legacy of a Great American President
  ~ Patrick J. Z.

President Reagan, like many of his predecessors, won a place of greatness in the hearts of his fellow countrymen. At a time when America's economy was flagging, her identity, image, and leadership in the world was being severely criticized, Ronald Reagan stood firm like a rock... and prevailed!

Accomplishments:

* Massively cut taxes, deregulated businesses where needed, targeted infrastructure expenditures (defense and development), ..., thereby boosting the national GDP by 3.5% (* later estimates are at 4.3% +) annually and reducing unemployment to 5.2%

* By the above he turned a national economic down spin into the greatest resurgence of American wealth since the days of WWII.

* Was highly instrumental in bringing down "the Evil Empire," with the help of European allies and  the late John Paul II.

* Strengthened the military and put fear into the heart of terrorists.

* Restored respect for America around the globe.

America's 40th commander-in-chief communicated directly to the people. He had the keen ability of making his audience feel renewed hope again. This man will be honored among future generations.

*** Even the best Presidential administrations have their weak and strong points, successes and failures. In depth examinations of Reagan policies will reveal the pros and cons of his executive leadership, which are interminably debated among political science scholars and domestic/foreign policy historians. Nevertheless, as with other presidents, political and personal criticisms do not diminish Ronald Reagan's over all achievements.

Plymouth: A Timeless Memorial for all People

by Patrick J.Z.

Do you know what actually happened in 1621? Do people realize what these honored Pilgrims were really like? Perpetrators who ask questions of this nature usually come packaged in partisan-slant a la mode or a salacious tabloid parfait. One cannot help but detect the eerie soap opera undertones. Their iconoclastic agenda is to expose 'hidden truths' (allegedly) connected with revered personages and historical landmarks. Many of these modern renditions are not complimentary. Most are spurious. Other perspectives simply make issues out of non issues. Research microscopes have been dusted off and calibrated to focus entirely on the common flaws of our founding fathers and mothers, while ignoring their uncommon virtues. Each passing decade has seen a little more denigration of good and important things relating to Plymouth Plantation's inimitable experience; and a little more magnification of their mistakes. Now what was it that our beloved sixteenth President used to say? Oh yeah, "If you look for the bad in people expecting to find it, you surely will."

Consequently, a treasured episode in American history has been under attack from sporadic sniper shots of skewed revisionism. In spite of all this diabolical cynicism, or the reality of mankind's depraved tendencies, the gem of a triumphant human saga, giving birth to an enduring tradition still shines on. Here is a concise recounting of the Pilgrim's heart touching Thanksgiving story :  Read more

The Desperate Hour

             The Desperate Hour
                                             -By Patrick J. Z.

The desperate hour has come;
Kingdom touches kingdom,
the fading flute, the deafening drum.

Fury and rage;
darkness and light,
violent clashes, through the violent night.

Fear and hope surge within... the searching heart...
                          ... the silent gaze.

"These are the times that try men's souls..."
of what mettle are they caste?
Where is the seer? Where, freedom's voice?
Where, sweet morning's redemption?

The desperate hour has come;
Kingdom touches kingdom,
the fading flute, the deafening drum.
